Issu de la série des IE-3400, le IE-3400H-8FT est un switch ethernet industriel 8 ports conçu pour les environnements extrêmes. Sa connectique est au format M12. Il a été pensé pour résister aux chocs, vibrations, perturbations électriques et aux températures extrêmes.

L'ensemble de la connectique est au format M12 et notamment les 8 ports ethernet. Ces derniers fournissent un débit adaptable de 10/100Mbps. Comme tout switch Cisco, ce dernier est administrable et inclut l'ensemble des fonctions qu'on attend d'un équipement L2.
